Sod is one of the best ways to establish a lush and beautiful lawn. We use high-quality sod, and adhere to proper installation guidelines to ensure that your new lawn gets the root system it needs for a long, healthy life.
There are a few different options of sod available to homeowners in the Triangle Area. Proscapes will evaluate your yard and help you determine which sod will best suit your needs. Here are a few characteristics and care requirements of each sod that we offer:

Tall Fescue Sod
  • Cool season, medium leaf, dark green, bunch-type grass
  • Remains green in winter and is heat and drought tolerant, does well in shaded areas
  • Grows in all three regions of NC, but does best in Piedmont
  • Prefers fertile, fine textured soils with a pH of 6-6.5
  • Grows best in the Spring or Fall
  • Higher maintenance grass, especially in summer months
  • Fescue 2.5-3.5" mowing height @ 7 to 10 day intervals
  • Supplement irrigation if necessary to provide 1" water per week

Centipede Sod
  • Warm Season Grass primarily associated with coastal plain and piedmont region
  • Slow growing, light green color and medium-coarse textured
  • Low maintenance, infrequent mowing and fertilization
  • Full sun to moderate shade tolerant
  • Prefers infertile, acidic soil with a pH of 5.5 (Clay/Loam)
  • Traffic and drought tolerant
  • Mowing height 1-1.5" @ 7 to 10 day intervals
  • Supplement irrigation if necessary to provide 1" water per week

Bermuda Sod
  • Warm season grass, performs best in coastal and piedmont regions
  • Medium -fine texture, spreading growth habit,
  • Aggressive growth, thatch can be a problem, also recovers rapidly from injury
  • Excellent heat, drought, and salt tolerance
  • Establishes quickly, withstands traffic and wear
  • Intolerant of cold and shade
  • Mowing height of 1/2-1 ½" @ 5 day intervals
  • Supplement irrigation if necessary to provide 1" water per week

Zoysia Sod
  • Warm season grass well adapted to coastal and piedmont regions
  • Low growing, dense, and wear resistant
  • Leaves are very stiff and hard to mow without very sharp blade
  • Cultivar 'Meyer' very cold tolerant, not as traffic tolerant, medium leaf texture and lighter green color
  • Cultivar 'Emerald' fine-leafed, dark green, winter hardy, shade tolerant
  • If mowed high or infrequently can become thatchy
  • Slow to recover from injury
  • Mowing height of 1-1.25" @ 5 to 7 day intervals
  • Supplement irrigation if necessary to provide 1" water per week
